What we've learned.

There were lots of little little lessons learnt from OBS, and when all of it is put together, it is one BIG valuable lesson!

Most of it was about conquering my fears and working with others to conquer theirs, helping out whenever someone is in desperate need, team work and determination.

I did have to go out in the middle of the freaking night with the terrible weather and a torch, to go get my mates back to the dorm, and I had to do it alone. That was probably one of the biggest fear crushers I've ever done. Although I went down to get them up, I wasn't able to get them back to the dorm because they ran back to the dorm while I was far away. When I came back, they were thanking me for going out alone, bravery they called it, stupidity as I know it. I believed I have helped to make them more determined about conquering their own fears.

Another one was the rappelling. Fun as it was, there was my fear of heights. Hanging off a ledge 20 feet above ground level and able to see everything. Overcome your fears and you will find the fun.

The last one was the Solo Camp. Sleeping alone in a tent with 3 openings was quite a new experience. I could hear footsteps (Instructor's, I din't know it then) cracking twigs and little branches falling on my tent. Some of the other guys had it worse. They did not have torches or had really really crappy torches which could barely light up their own tent.

And about team work. All the rope activities we had, we had to trust our friends at the top/bottom to let us arrive safely. Besides that, while we were crowded around our campfires (before solo camp), Holy and Kumaren wanted to listen to ghost stories and things like that. I told them not to talk about such things as we were in the middle of the jungle and we din't want to scared during Solo, which was just a few days off. And they did stop talking about these things!

Another one was during jungle trekking, since Christina is really really pint sized, we helped her out my lightening her back pack and Eugene took her 4.5kilo bottle for her. Even when we go through downhill mud slides, Shane and I held on to each other's hands so that we have a lower chance of slipping.

The biggest lesson learnt will probably be about determination. Want to get through all the shit that happens? Determination.

Like what everybody said, coming up from OBS is like coming out a whole new person. Sense of confidence to be able to do everything. Sense of graduating an elite.

To serve, to strive, and not to yield!
